“My own story is shocking, funny, tragic, lucky as ****, and of course, messy. Very, very messy.” Amanda de Cadenet
You hear the name Amanda de Cadenet, and you know you’ve heard it before. You just can’t place it. That’s what I thought when I heard about Amanda’s new book of essays, IT’S MESSY: On Boys, Boobs and Badass Women (HarperWave). Then I remembered: she was Courtney Love’s BFF for a minute, she had a very popular British television chat show, which was all the rage and she booked some of the hottest celebs: Lady Gaga, Sarah Silverman, Jane Fonda, Gwyneth Paltrow and Hillary Clinton, or Hillz, as Amanda calls her.
IT’S MESSY is a collection of thirteen essays, where readers learn ALL about Amanda – the good, bad, dark and dirty! Her first husband was John Taylor, the bassist for DURAN DURAN, at the height of the band’s success. She absolutely loves KEE-AHN-NU who was her first love-at-first-sight guy. And she knows Keanu will hate being mentioned in her book.
Amanda shares hard-won advice she’s gained through her experiences as businesswoman, friend, wife, and mother. Through it all, she offers an original perspective as a feminist on the front lines of celebrity culture, and she loves to write about her vagina. Edgy, irreverent, poignant and provocative, IT’S MESSY addresses the issues, concerns, and experiences relevant to women today. It’s Amanda’s attempt to help us figure out how we tick and feel less alone. It’s fun, chatty and she definitely has a unique voice. Reading IT’S MESSY is kind of like taking a bubble bath with a flute of champagne.

I know more about Amanda than I probably should because I am a Duranie and she was married to hottie John Taylor. I also follow her in Instagram along with her and John’s daughter Atlanta. I’d love to read this book so please throw my name in the hat.
