“Nine-one-one, what’s your -“
A child was shrieking in frantic bursts, and a woman was whispering. “Go back upstairs, baby, please.”
Her voice was urgent. “Please! Go! Go now!”
And then suddenly she shouted.
“Oh my God.”
In a sea of psychological thrillers that can’t be published fast enough, Annie Ward’s new novel, BEAUTIFUL BAD (ParkRowBooks) stands out. Told from three different timelines and perspectives, BEAUTIFUL BAD doesn’t let go until the final page. The suspense is relentless.
Maddie and Ian’s love story begins with a chance encounter at a party overseas; he’s serving in the British army and she’s a travel writer visiting her best friend, Jo. Now almost two decades later, married with a beautiful son, Charlie, they are living the perfect suburban life in Middle America. But when a camping accident leaves Maddie badly scarred, she begins attending writing therapy, where she gradually reveals her fears about Ian’s PTSD; her concerns for the safety of their young son; and the couple’s tangled and tumultuous past with Jo.
A devoted wife, a loving husband and a chilling murder that no one saw coming.

This sounds great, even the description is suspenseful. The best thriller I’ve read lately is Saving Meghan.

The most chilling book I have read this year has been The Good Samaritan by John Marrs….this book still haunts me, and the female villain is the most evil female villain I have ever read! She makes Annie Wilkes from Misery look like a girl scout!!
