Dear Miss Westaway,

Your grandmother, Hester Jane Westaway of Trepassen House, St Piran, passed away on 22ndNovember, at her home. I appreciate that this news may well come as a shock to you; please accept my sincere condolences on your loss.

In accordance with the wishes of your late grandmother, I am instructed to inform beneficiaries of the details of her funeral. As local accommodation is very limited, family members are invited to stay at Trepassen House where a wake will also be held.

Yours truly,

Robert Treswick
Treswick, Nantes and Dean, Penzance

Harriet Westaway – better known as Hal – receives a letter out of the blue informing her of a financial inheritance, it seems like the answer to her prayers. The loan shark she borrowed from is itching for his money and there’s no way she can see cleaning up her debts working as a tarot-card reader.

There’s another problem: Hester Westaway is not Hal’s grandmother. The letter has been sent to the wrong person.

Seeing this as her only way to cough up some cash, Hal boards a train for Cornwall, and prepares for the con of her life. But something is very, very wrong at Trepassen House.

“There was something deeper and stranger at stake here – something that someone would kill to conceal.”

Ruth Ware once again has readers on pins and needles and scares the daylights out of us with her new novel, THE DEATH OF MRS. WESTAWAY. She has a special gift of plotting dark and creepy story-lines that keep our hearts racing. If you’ve read her previous three novels, you won’t be disappointed. If this is your first Ruth Ware book, be prepared to explore her backlist. In a sea of psychological thrillers being published, Ruth Ware reigns supreme.

  4. I’ve read all three of Ruth’s books – In a Dark, Dark Wood, The Woman in Cabin 10, and The Lying Game. I absolutely loved The Lying Game because it was so different than her previous two. I’ve been patiently waiting for The Death of Mrs. Westaway and have read a number of wonderful reviews about it.

  6. In A Dark Dark Wood has so far been my favorite, it reminded me of my Mom’s Gothic novels I read when I was growing up. I devoured them!
