Alison Gaylin’s new novel, IF I DIE TONIGHT (WilliamMorrow) is an absorbing addictive story of psychological suspense. Gaylin, known for her previous books, WHAT REMAINS of ME and the award-winning Breen Spector series continues on with a thriller that’s being called a mix of BIG LITTLE LIES and STRANGER THINGS.
Late one night, a former ’80s pop music star stumbles into the quiet Hudson Valley town of Havenkill. Aimee En claims a teenage boy stole her car then ran over another young guy who tried to help. At that point, lives are changed forever.
The crime blows up social media, because the victim, Liam Miller is a football star. Liam’s life hangs in the balance, the events of that fateful night begin to come into focus. But is everything as it seems? The suspect Wade Reed is portrayed as a deranged, outcast, would-be killer. But is Wade really guilty? And why won’t he talk to authorities?
IF I DIE TONIGHT is told from various alternating viewpoints. It’s the story of dark secrets and family ties, and to what lengths people will go to protect themselves.

The one that struck me, other than the school shootings, is the family that chained their children to beds and such.

The one I remember most was the murder of Travis Alexander. I watched all of the testimony from Jodie Arias. Thanks for a chance to win this book!

School shootings. So common now. Kids do for all the attention the media gives them

I think it would have to be about the explosion at the FedEx in Texas. I believe I’m getting that right. Don’t watch a lot of tv.

There have been so many shootings and school shootings lately that have been in the media, although not hyped. I guess the O. J. Simpson car chase would be the hyped one – in the news again lately thanks to the tv show last year.

You had me at Stranger Things. Not sure I would consider anything to be “hyped up” right now. The stuff (i.e. school shootings, package bombings, sexual harassment/assault, etc.) is real and it’s happening and we need to be vigilant about it.

The last really hyped up crime that was in the news was the Florida school shootings. Nobody should to have to go through that, especially a young school student.

I don’t really watch the news for that exact reason. But yes I will go with O.J. and all the Trump family crime allegations.

To me, the biggest hyped up story was the guy who ran away with the 16 year old girl. They were found in Mexico a day or two ago. The whole thing was just icky and so over the top in the news, when children are really being abducted daily and no one ever hears about it. So sad!

All of the school shootings, unfortunately.

I don’t watch alot of tv…but I think any of the student/teacher relationship stories are always crazy to follow…and it really seems as if males and females are treated totally different by society in these cases.

It makes me sad to say that I honestly didn’t know which to choose, the bombings or shootings, because they happen so much now. I hope it changes while I’m still around to see it. Thank you.
