THE SIMPLICITY of CIDER by AMY E. REICHERT & GIVEAWAY

Amy E. Reichert is one of my favorite authors. I feel as if we’d be great friends. First of all, she’s pee your panties funny. She’s so down to earth and nice, and well, she lives in Wisconsin and I have a house next door in Minnesota and we both love the Green Bay Packers. So, what more do we need to be BFFs?

I fell in love with her first novel THE COINCIDENCE of COCONUT CAKE. Lou owns a bakery in downtown Milwaukee and has some love problems, but food brings a wonderful relationship into her life. And at the end of the novel, there’s a recipe for a delicious coconut cake that you’ll definitely want to make. Love and food, I’m in heaven!

In LUCK, LOVE & LEMON PIE, MJ finds a way to get her bored husband interested in their stale marriage. And there’s a yummy lemon pie recipe at the end of that novel that you’re going to gobble up. Dessert and romance, who could ask for anything more?

In Amy E. Reichert’s new novel, THE SIMPLICITY of CIDER (Gallery Books) readers are taken out to Lund’s Apple Orchard in Door County, Wisconsin. Now before I even get into the story, it’s my hope that everyone reading this novel gets the opportunity to visit Door County. It’s one of the most beautiful, slices of Americana; you’ll feel as if time has stood still. There are darling shops everywhere you turn and you can buy some of the most delightful crafts made by true artisans. But, back to the apple orchard.

Fifth generation cider makers, Sanna, don’t you just love that name, has one desire: to keep her family’s apple orchard running, despite her brother’s constant attempts to get her father to sell. Their quiet lives are interrupted by the arrival of a handsome man and his young son. At the same time, Sanna’s father, Issac injures himself leaving only Sanna to work in the on the orchard. Unexpected complications take an already difficult situation to the limit. Perhaps the one who wants nothing more than to help Sanna is already there working at the orchard.

So, in addition to the happily ever afters, what’s the other great part of reading any Amy E. Reichert novels? At least one delicious recipe. Readers get the recipe for a scrupulous caramel apple bread pudding at the end of THE SIMPLICITY of CIDER. Yum, yum!

  1. My favorite apple is the Braeburn apple. It’s tart and sweet and goes perfectly with peanut butter; which is my favorite way to eat a sliced up apple!

  3. My favorite has become the huge Honeycrisp apples from Canada. The ones from Washington aren’t near as sweet or crispy, and they are small.
Pink Lady will do in pinch.
