What do you do when you’re married to a sadistic psychopath?

Book Sparks Fall Reading Challenge 2016 kicks off with B.A. Paris’ bestselling novel, BEHIND CLOSED DOORS (St. Martins). Jack Angel is no angel. He’s a brilliant domestic violence lawyer who killed his parents as a child, who is now torturing his wife, killing her dog and planning to murder her disabled sister.

Shortly after they’re married on their honeymoon to Thailand, Jack her who he really is. Jack explains that he hates women, lusts after cruelty and how Grace will suffer if she doesn’t behave.

To their friends, Jack and Grace Angel appear to be the perfect couple. They host dinner parties and Jack is the perfect host, always has his arms around his lovely wife. Grace appears a bit nervous, but she has the pressure of cooking by herself. Or is it something else? Her friends wonder why she doesn’t have her own cellphone, answer the home phone or accept lunch invitations. Jack explains she’s not well, fragile and nervous about her sister coming to live with them.

B.A. says she came up with the idea for the novel because she was suspicious of a friend’s marriage and then her imagination went into overdrive.

The movie rights to BEHIND CLOSED DOORS have been sold. B.A. Paris’ next novel, THE BREAKDOWN will be released January 17th, 2017. It’s not a sequel to BEHIND CLOSED DOORS.
